Track bar and alignment
A front track bar keeps the axle centered under the vehicle as the suspension moves, so the body is not pushed side to side on bumps and turns. When a lift changes the geometry, the stock bar can angle the axle and cause steering wander, which is why an adjustable unit is used.
Track bars are often replaced alongside related steering and suspension parts. Tie rod ends, drag link ends, and control arm bushings wear at a similar pace, and a worn joint can make a new bar feel loose. Inspect those parts when the bar is changed.
Set the bar length so the axle is centered, and recheck it after any change in lift or tire size. After installation, have the alignment checked, and look for play at the frame and axle ends after the first few drives. Replace bushings or rod ends that feel loose.
