Description

Overview

The Rubicon Express RE1159 is a rear sway bar end link for the 2007 to 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK, sold as a pair. It is a non-disconnect end link, a design for vehicles that spend most of their time on the road, and it can be removed for improved off-road flex.

It is designed for a 5.5-inch lift and fits 2 and 4-door Wrangler JK models. It does not fit the Wrangler TJ, LJ or JL.

Key features

  • Rear position end link, sold as a pair
  • Non-disconnect style for daily road use
  • Can be removed for improved off-road flex
  • Designed for a 5.5-inch lift
  • Non-greasable joint

Disconnect or fixed links

A non-disconnect end link stays attached to the sway bar at all times, which keeps the bar working on pavement. Disconnect style links are chosen when a driver wants more wheel travel on uneven ground and does not mind the change in on-road feel. Because this one is a non-disconnect design, the option to remove it for off-road flex is a deliberate trade-off.

End links take most of the sway bar’s load during cornering and when one wheel drops, so they wear faster than many other suspension parts. Lift height affects the angle of the link, which is why the length has to suit the ride height. When replacing links, change them as a pair so both sides match and the bar loads evenly.

  • Look for clunks over bumps and at low speed
  • Inspect the threads, boots and bushings for wear
  • Snug the hardware once the vehicle is back on the ground

Questions & Answers

Will the RE1159 fit a Jeep TJ or LJ?

No. It fits the 2007 to 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK, including 2 and 4-door models, and does not fit the TJ or LJ. Check your year and model before ordering.

Is the RE1159 sold as one link or a pair?

It is sold as a pair, which covers both sides of the rear sway bar. Order one set for each vehicle.

What lift height is the RE1159 designed for?

Rubicon Express designs it for a 5.5-inch lift. Check that your lift matches before you install it, because the end link length has to suit your ride height.

Can this end link be removed for off-road flex?

Yes. It is a non-disconnect design for vehicles that spend most of their time on the road, and it can be removed for improved off-road flex.

How do I know when the end links need replacing?

Look for play, clunking over bumps, bent link bodies and damaged threads. Check the links at each oil change and after off-road trips. Because the joint is non-greasable, a worn link is replaced rather than serviced.
