Planning a 3.5 inch lift
A coil spring lift changes more than ride height. The coil sets the load each corner carries, so a change in lift can alter how the vehicle sits and how the suspension travels. Before fitting coils, think about the shocks, brake lines, driveline angles and sway bar links, since those parts can be affected by a 3.5 inch increase.
Shocks are often replaced or checked with a lift, since their length and mounting angle may no longer suit the new travel. Look for leaks, worn bushings and cracked mounts. Sway bar links and bump stops also tend to wear faster once the ride height changes.
Coil springs wear over time, usually showing as sag at one corner or a coating that has chipped and rusted. Inspect them for cracks near the ends, and keep the pair matched so both sides ride the same.
