Description

Overview

The Rough Country 501063 is a 2 inch lifted N3 strut for the 2014 to 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500. It is a direct fit for the front position. The strut is nitrogen charged and replaces the factory strut on the listed trucks.

A lift strut raises the front end by replacing the factory strut assembly rather than adding a spacer on top of it. The N3 strut keeps a smooth, factory-like ride while adding ride height, and it is tuned for its intended application so handling stays consistent.

The strut uses a massive bore and a chrome hardened piston rod, with a leak-proof piston seal for durability. The variable dampening system provides control on different road surfaces, and the strut improves tire contact with the road for added stability.

Key features

  • 2 inch front lift from a complete lifted strut
  • Nitrogen charged design
  • Pre-loaded coil for quick installation
  • Massive bore and chrome hardened piston rod
  • Leak-proof piston seal
  • Variable dampening system

Before you buy

Front struts carry the weight of the front end and control how the suspension moves over bumps, under braking and through corners. When a lift strut replaces the factory unit, the new assembly takes over that job, so its ride quality and damping matter as much as its height. Many shoppers compare how a strut feels on pavement, since the same unit also handles rough trail sections.

Because the spring and strut are replaced together, check whether the truck already has a spacer, a leveling kit or aftermarket shocks that could conflict with the new unit. Front alignment is usually needed after a front lift, and related parts such as sway bar links, brake lines and the driveline angle are often inspected at the same time.

After installation, re-check the strut mounting hardware after the first few drives and look over the boot and seals from time to time for leaks or damage. Signs that a strut is wearing include bouncing after bumps, nose dive under braking and uneven front tire wear.

Questions & Answers

Will the 501063 fit a 2019 Silverado 1500?

No. It fits the 2014 to 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 only, so 2019 and later GM 1500 trucks are not covered. Confirm your model year and trim before choosing this strut.

Can I use this strut with a strut spacer?

No. The strut cannot be installed together with a strut spacer. Remove any spacer on the truck before fitting this lifted strut.

Does this strut need the factory strut to be taken apart?

No. The strut comes with a pre-loaded coil, so the factory strut is removed and this unit is installed in its place without complicated strut disassembly.

Does a lift strut need an alignment?

Usually yes. Changing front ride height alters suspension geometry, so an alignment is typically recommended after installation. Have the front end checked once the new strut is in and the truck is at its normal load.

How can you tell the strut is worn?

Look for oil on the body of the strut, a bouncy ride after bumps, nose dive when braking and cupped front tire wear. Any of these suggests the unit needs inspection or replacement.
