Description

Overview

The Rock Slide Engineering RSEAX-SP-300-BR4 is a black steel skid plate for the 3rd Gen Step Sliders. It covers the side and bottom of the slider and fits the 2021-2022 Ford Bronco and 2021-2022 Ford Bronco Sport.

The plate is intended for owners who run more aggressive trails and want protection beyond the step slider itself. It is 3/16 inch steel, and the cutout for the step leaves the step usable while the rest of the slider is covered.

Key features

  • 3/16 inch steel skid plate for the side and bottom of the step slider
  • Cutout for the step so it continues to function
  • Attaches to the existing step slider with the same brackets
  • Textured black topcoat over an acid etched base
  • Made with an automated powder coat system

Trail use and care

A skid plate under a step slider takes the hits that would otherwise dent the slider tube and reach the body. Steel plates with a powder coat resist scrapes, but the coating will wear where the plate rubs rock. Look for chips that expose bare metal and touch them up before rust starts at the edges. Heavier aggressive trails put more load on the plate than casual road use, so it pays to check it more often.

The step cutout is the part to watch. Keep the step clear of mud, and check that the cut edges have no sharp burrs that could catch boots or cloth. If the plate is struck hard, check the brackets and bolts, since loose hardware can change how the plate sits against the slider.

  • Inspect the coating after rock crawling
  • Keep the step cutout free of mud
  • Re-check bracket hardware after rough trips
