Overview
The Poison Spyder DeFender Side Inserts in aluminum, part number 14-02-051, are CNC laser-cut panels that fill the access ports in the side panels of the DeFender. They are sold as a pair.
The inserts are cut from 1/8-inch aluminum plate. The Spyder logo cut-out works as an air vent that lets air flow through the engine bay. They bolt to the inside surface of the DeFender and are made for DeFender flares. Poison Spyder presents the inserts as the finishing piece for a DeFender XC installation.

Fender kit and vent tips
Side inserts fill openings in the fender panels, so their main job is to keep the fender clean and the look finished. Because the inserts bolt to the inside of the fender, dirt and water can collect between the insert and the panel. Check the mating surfaces during installation and keep them dry before the bolts are fully tightened.
Bare aluminum shows scratches and can react with dissimilar metals, so use fasteners that suit the mounting surface and keep the area clean. Recheck the bolts after the first few trail runs, since vibration can loosen them over time, and wipe the inserts after muddy outings to limit residue.
