Overview
The Mountain Off Road Enterprises XMR10-12 is a right hand thread rod end with a 5/8 inch bore and a 3/4-16 threaded shank. It is intended for fabricators building their own tie rods, track bars, radius arms or link bars, and a jam nut comes with it.
The ball hole matches the diameter of the body’s threaded shank. The rod end uses a 52100 bearing steel ball, a Teflon/Kevlar self-lubricating race and an alloy steel heat-treated body, built to a race-car quality standard.
Key features
- Right hand thread
- 5/8 inch bore in the ball
- 52100 bearing steel ball
- Self-lubricating Teflon/Kevlar race
Right hand threads in a link
Right hand and left hand threads let the two ends of a link be adjusted in opposite directions, which is useful when building tie rods and track bars. Choosing a right hand rod end sets the handedness of one end of the link, so check that the other end matches the build plan before you cut tube or order additional parts.
The self-lubricating race handles normal articulation well, but a rod end that runs dry or dirty will still wear. Clean any mud or grit from the ball area after hard runs, and check the ball for pitting or roughness. The bore should match the pin or bolt it runs on, so measure the mounting hardware before final assembly.
- Confirm handedness of both link ends
- Measure the bore against the mounting hardware
- Clean grit from the ball after hard runs
- Replace a rod end that feels rough or binds
