Overview
The Lube Locker LLT-G001 is a transmission pan gasket for the GM Powerglide automatic transmission. It seals the pan to the transmission and has a steel core coated in rubber, with elastomer beading running around the full perimeter of both faces.
The gasket is designed to resist splitting and extruding during installation, and it is designed for good torque retention. Installation is dry, so no sealant is needed.
Key features
- Steel core with a rubber coating
- Elastomer beading across the full perimeter on both sides
- Designed not to split or extrude during installation, per Lube Locker
- Dry installation with no sealant required
Matching the Powerglide pan
The GM Powerglide has a pan with a flat rail that the gasket must seal against, so the rail should be cleaned and free of dents before the new gasket goes on. Light surface rust can be removed with a fine abrasive, but deep pitting may prevent a good seal and calls for a different approach to the repair.
Because the gasket is dry-fit, it can shift while the pan is set in place. Start all the bolts by hand before tightening, and draw them down in a crisscross pattern. Refill the fluid to the correct level and watch the pan edge on the first few drives for seepage.
- Clean the pan rail before fitting
- Start bolts by hand before tightening
- Check the fluid level after the first drives
