Overview
The Rock Krawler Off Road Pro drag link, part RK04389, is a Chromoly steering link for 2007–2016 Jeep Wrangler JK models. It replaces the drag link and carries a greasable offset tie rod end on the link side.
The link is built to take hard use on the trail. It is designed to flex rather than bend when it strikes rocks, and the tube is 1.625 inch diameter Chromoly. It reuses the factory tie rod end at the pitman arm, which stays in place.
Key features
- 1.625 inch diameter Chromoly construction
- Greasable offset tie rod end for articulation
- Reuses the factory tie rod end at the pitman arm
- Designed to flex rather than bend when it strikes rocks
- Requires at least 17 inch wheels with 4.5 inch or less backspacing
Articulation and pitman-side wear
Articulation puts extra strain on the steering linkage, because the front axle moves independently on uneven ground. A greasable offset end allows the link to travel through a wider arc without binding, and grease helps keep the joint quiet and free. Over time, sand and water can dry out the joint, so regular greasing matters more on trail vehicles than on street use.
Because this link keeps the factory tie rod end at the pitman arm, that factory joint carries the load from the new link and needs close inspection. Look for play, rust or a split boot before installation. Wheel size and backspacing also affect how far the steering turns, so check the setup against the requirements before finishing the install.
- Grease the offset end regularly
- Check the factory pitman-side end for play
- Inspect boots after water crossings
- Confirm wheel and backspacing requirements

The 2017 and 2018 JK years are not in this list, so those Wranglers are not covered, and the JL generation is a different model. Check the model year against the listed years before installing.
Installation notes
Because the link reuses the factory tie rod end at the pitman arm, the factory pitman-side end must be in good condition. The stated wheel and backspacing requirements should be checked against your wheel and tire setup before installation.
What’s included
The drag link only. It reuses the factory tie rod end at the pitman arm rather than replacing it. Check the package contents against your installation before starting.
