Overview
The Omix-Ada 16706.02 (OAI16706.02) is a front differential side bearing for the Dana 27 front axle. It fits the 1966 Jeep CJ3 and the 1966-1971 Jeep CJ5 and CJ6.
Two bearings are needed. It is a direct OE replacement built to original specifications.

Differential bearing service
Differential side bearings support the differential case and set the position of the ring gear against the pinion. When they wear, the gear mesh can shift, causing noise, vibration or a whine under load. Because side bearings are usually replaced in pairs, inspect the carrier bearings and pinion bearings at the same time to avoid a second teardown.
Bearing preload and ring gear backlash should be set correctly after new bearings are installed, since incorrect preload can shorten bearing life quickly. Clean the carrier housing and check the bearing bores for wear. Use fresh gear oil at the level called for in the service procedure for your axle, and keep track of shims during removal so the setup can be restored correctly.
