Description

Overview

The Baer Brakes 6920147 is a one-piece, slotted replacement rotor measuring 12 inches across, with a 1.02-inch nominal thickness and a 2.406-inch overall height. It is set up for the right-hand side and made for select Baer Brake systems.

The rotor has a 5-stud bolt pattern on a 4.75-inch circle and a 2.78-inch center hole. It is a drum in hat design, and the rotor is vented, cast iron and built as one full-cast piece. Check the bolt pattern, center hole and overall height against your hub before ordering.

Key features

  • Full-cast, one-piece construction
  • Slotted braking face
  • Drum in hat design
  • Directional right-hand design
  • Curved vane pattern and dynamic balancing
  • Vented cast-iron rotor, Performance grade type

Drum in hat setups

A drum in hat rotor carries a drum surface inside the hat for the parking brake, so the parking shoes and the drum share the hub with the friction face. The drum and shoes wear more slowly than the pads, but they still need periodic checks. Adjusters and springs should move freely, and the drum should be free of deep grooves.

When the rotor is off, look at the shoe linings, springs and wheel cylinder for leaks or sticking. Replace worn shoes together, since mismatched shoes can pull the parking brake to one side. Keep the drum surface clean and free of grease before reinstalling the rotor.

  • Check shoe lining thickness and wear pattern
  • Inspect springs and hold-down hardware
  • Confirm the adjuster turns freely
  • Look for grooves or hot spots on the drum surface
  • Keep grease away from the shoes and drum

Questions & Answers

Does the Baer Brakes 6920147 include an ABS tone ring?

No. The ABS tone ring is not included. Check whether your hub uses one and supply it separately if needed. The rotor itself is sold individually.

What are the thickness and overall height of part 6920147?

Nominal thickness is 1.02 inches and overall height is 2.406 inches. The rotor is 12 inches in outside diameter with a 2.78-inch center hole.

Is the 6920147 a left or right rotor?

It is a right-side rotor and the design is directional, so use a left-side part for the opposite wheel. Confirm the side before fitting.

Can a drum in hat rotor still be used for the parking brake?

Yes. The drum inside the hat works with the parking brake shoes, so the parking brake depends on both the drum and the shoes. Inspect those parts whenever the rotor is removed, and replace worn shoes or springs together.
