Description

Overview

The Skyjacker SBE638-6XJ is a pair of rear extended sway bar end links for the 1984–2001 Jeep Cherokee (XJ). Extended end links correct the angle of the sway bar after a suspension lift, so the bar keeps its proper geometry once the vehicle sits higher.

It is sold as a pair for the rear position. You remove the stock sway bar end links and install the longer Skyjacker links, which directly replace the stock parts. The links keep the frame bracket in place, so the sway bar mounting stays unchanged.

Key features

  • Built from 4140H steel
  • Custom engineered to directly replace stock end links
  • Polyurethane bushings included
  • Maximum anti-roll and sway control
  • Smoother handling on streets and trails
  • Zinc coating to block rust, corrosion and oxidation
  • Lifetime warranty, made in the USA

Living with a lifted sway bar

A sway bar links the left and right suspension so body roll is resisted in corners. When a lift raises the vehicle, the end links can take on a steeper angle, which changes how the bar loads and can make the ride feel less settled. Extended end links are a common way to restore that geometry without touching the frame-side mounting points.

Because the bar works alongside the springs, shocks and control arms, it is worth inspecting those parts when the links are replaced. Look for worn bushings, bent links and cracked bar mounts, and check each end link joint for play by hand before and after installation.

  • Check end link joints for play by hand
  • Inspect bar bushings for cracking or flattening
  • Look for bent or stretched link studs

Vehicle fitment

The manufacturer fitment list covers the 1984–2001 Jeep Cherokee (XJ), including the Base, Briarwood, Chief, Classic, Country, Laredo, Limited, Pioneer, SE and Sport trims.

The list does not cover other Jeep models such as the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee or Liberty. Confirm your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.

Installation notes

Installation is straightforward on most vehicles. Minor drilling may be needed on certain models, so check the fit before final tightening. Because the links change how the sway bar sits, have the suspension geometry checked after a lift.

Questions & Answers

Will the Skyjacker SBE638-6XJ fit a Jeep Wrangler?

No. It fits only the 1984–2001 Jeep Cherokee (XJ), and it does not cover any Wrangler generation. Verify your vehicle's year, model and trim match before buying.

What are extended sway bar end links used for?

Extended sway bar end links correct the angle of the sway bar after a vehicle has been lifted. They replace the stock end links, so the bar sits at the right geometry without changing the frame mounting point, as a drop kit would.

Does this kit need drilling during installation?

Minor drilling may be needed on certain models. The links include polyurethane bushings and install quickly, but check the fit before final tightening.

What material and finish are the end links?

The Skyjacker SBE638-6XJ links are built from 4140H steel with a durable zinc coating that helps block rust, corrosion and oxidation. The kit is a pair and carries a Lifetime Warranty.

How often should sway bar bushings be inspected?

Inspect them during regular service and any time you notice clunking over bumps or uneven body lean in turns. Look for cracks, separation or flattened bushings, and replace worn parts together so both sides behave alike.
