Description

Overview

The Pro Comp EXP63156, also written 63156, is a 2.5-inch front leveling kit built around torsion keys for the 2020–2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, the 2020–2022 GMC Sierra 2500 HD and the 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 HD. The kit is a direct fit for both 2WD and 4WD models.

A torsion key is a small adjuster that changes the preload on the front torsion bar, which raises the front end without changing the factory bar. Pro Comp describes these keys as precision-forged chromoly, and says they are stronger than OEM cast parts.

The adjuster bolt pockets are machined for a snug fit on the torsion bar. The maximum tire size is 33×12.50, and the front can take wheels and tires up to 33 inches in diameter.

Key features

  • 2.5-inch front lift using forged chromoly torsion keys
  • CNC-machined adjuster bolt pockets for a snug fit on the torsion bar
  • Black powder coat finish
  • Includes OEM upper shock spacers
  • Maximum tire size 33×12.50

Torsion keys and front height

Torsion bars carry the weight of the front end, and a torsion key changes the preload on that bar to raise the front. Because the lift works through the bar rather than a spacer, front shock position and suspension travel should be checked for clearance at full compression and full extension.

Changing front height also affects steering geometry, so an alignment and a headlight aim check are sensible after the install. Owners who tow or carry heavy front accessories should recheck the front end after the first few weeks of use, since settling into the new setting can take some time.

  • Confirm shock length before ordering
  • Measure front ride height on both sides
  • Recheck the adjusters after the first drives

Questions & Answers

Does the Pro Comp 63156 fit a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD?

Yes. It fits the 2020–2022 Silverado 2500 HD, which includes 2021 trucks in the Custom, High Country, LT, LTZ and WT trims. Confirm fit for your vehicle's year, model and trim before ordering.

Does this kit need longer shocks?

Pro Comp recommends longer shocks for this kit, because the front lift changes the shock length. Longer shocks are not included.

What is the lift height?

The front lift is 2.5 inches, done with forged chromoly torsion keys that adjust the preload on the front torsion bar.

Can torsion keys be adjusted after installation?

Yes. Key adjustment changes the ride height, so it can be set to a different height later if needed. Measure both sides after each change and recheck alignment to keep the front level.

Do torsion key kits affect the front shock mounts?

They can, since front shock travel changes with the new bar setting. Check the upper mounts and shock length for clearance once the lift is in place and before normal driving.
