Description

Overview

The Omix-ADA 16727.03 is a 4-piece axle drive flange gasket kit for 6-bolt front hubs. It fits early Jeep CJ models, the Jeepster, Commando, Gladiator, Wagoneer, J-series trucks and Willys vehicles from 1941 to 1974.

It is a direct OE replacement built to the original Jeep specifications and carries a limited five year warranty from Omix-ADA. The kit is for the front position and holds four pieces, so a front hub can be resealed from a single kit.

Key features

  • 4-piece axle drive flange gasket kit
  • For 6-bolt hubs
  • Front position
  • Direct OE replacement built to original specifications
  • Limited five year warranty from Omix-ADA
  • Fits CJ, Commando, Jeepster, Gladiator, Wagoneer and Willys models

Resealing a front hub

A flange gasket seals the axle drive flange to the hub, keeping lubricant in and water and dirt out. Leaks at this joint usually show as grease on the inside of the wheel or on the flange face. Before fitting new gaskets, clean both mating surfaces thoroughly and remove any old sealant or paper residue, since a damaged surface can leak even with a new gasket.

Gaskets are often replaced together with the hub seals and flange bolts, especially on a vehicle with high mileage or repeated water crossings off-road. Check the bolts for stretch or corrosion and replace any that look weak. Re-torque the flange fasteners after the first short drive, because the joint can settle as the new gaskets seat.

Questions & Answers

What comes in the Omix-ADA 16727.03 kit?

It is a 4-piece axle drive flange gasket kit for front hubs. Check the package contents against your installation before starting, and confirm the gasket sizes match the hub you are resealing.

Is the 16727.03 for 6-bolt hubs?

Yes. The kit is made for 6-bolt hubs and for the front position, so it is not meant for a 5-bolt hub.

Which Jeeps does the 16727.03 fit?

Omix-ADA lists early CJ3, CJ5 and CJ6 models, the Commando, Dispatcher, Gladiator, Jeepster, Wagoneer, J-series trucks, FC models and Willys vehicles, each with its own year range.

What warranty does the Omix-ADA 16727.03 have?

The kit carries a limited five year warranty from Omix-ADA. Keep your purchase receipt with the packaging in case a warranty claim is needed later, since a claim will ask for proof of purchase.

Can the gaskets be reused if they look intact?

It is better to replace them. Flange gaskets compress once and can take a permanent set, so an old gasket that looks intact may still leak once the hub is reassembled. A new kit is the simpler way to avoid repeating the job.

How can I tell a gasket leak from a worn axle seal?

A gasket leak usually appears at the flange face where the hub meets the axle, while a worn axle seal tends to leak inside the hub or onto the brake area. Clean the area, drive a short distance, then check where the fluid first shows before deciding which part to replace.
