Overview
The Mishimoto MMRAD-RAM-94 is a direct-fit performance aluminum radiator for the 1994 to 2002 Dodge 5.9L Cummins diesel. It fits the 1994 to 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 in the Base trim.
Mishimoto built the radiator for trucks that tow, haul and run hard. The brazed aluminum core and TIG-welded end tanks are intended to hold up to that workload, and the unit is sized to replace the factory radiator without modification.
Key features
- Works with 5.9L 12V and 24V Cummins engines
- Direct full aluminum construction
- Durable TIG-welded end tanks
- Two-row brazed aluminum core, 2.44 inch thick
- Radiator cap and magnetic drain plug included
Cooling a work-truck Cummins
Diesel trucks that tow or haul generate a lot of heat, and the radiator is the main point where that heat leaves the engine. A replacement core is a good moment to check the water pump, the thermostat and the fan clutch. Any of these can limit flow and make a new radiator less effective than expected.
Check the upper and lower hoses for softness, swelling and cracks, and replace them if they feel brittle. The radiator cap should hold pressure, so a worn seal is worth replacing during the swap. Keep the fan shroud in good shape, since it guides air through the core at low road speed.
- Inspect the water pump for leaks
- Replace hoses showing cracks
- Check the fan clutch for slack
