Overview
The Daystar Locking D-Ring Isolator, part number KU70058FG in Fluorescent Green, is a polyurethane isolator that snaps onto a standard 3/4″ D-ring (also called a clevis or shackle) to stop it rattling against your bumper. Inspecting worn isolators
A D-ring isolator has one simple job: it keeps the metal shackle from striking the bumper, winch mount or another recovery point as the vehicle moves over rough ground. Repeated tapping wears paint and can mark thin bumper finishes, so a soft layer between the metal and the vehicle helps protect the surface over time.
Polyurethane holds its shape through repeated flexing, but years of sun, mud and impacts can crack, flatten or tear it. Inspect the isolator each time you clean recovery gear. Replace it when the body no longer seats firmly on the D-ring or the lanyard has frayed.
Check the D-ring bolt at the same time. The lanyard only works when it passes through the bolt hole, so make sure it is seated correctly and the bolt is snug before each trip.
