Bedding in new pads and rotors
A new rotor and pad pairing needs a bedding procedure before it performs as intended. Make a series of moderate stops from a moderate speed, letting the brakes cool between runs, so a thin layer of pad material transfers evenly onto the rotor face. Skipping this step can leave uneven deposits that cause vibration or a soft pedal feel.
Ceramic pads generate less dust than many semi-metallic compounds and tend to run quieter, which suits daily driving. They work best when the rotor surface is clean and the caliper slides freely. Check the caliper pins during the first service and lubricate them where the service procedure calls for it, so the pads wear evenly across the rotor.
