Overview
The Smittybilt XRC Armor Rear Bumper with Hitch and Tire Carrier is a black powder coated rear bumper for the 2007 to 2016 Jeep Wrangler JK, including the Rubicon and Unlimited. It combines a 2″ receiver hitch, two D-ring mounts and a swing-out tire carrier in one bolt-on unit.
Smittybilt builds the XRC bumpers with a high approach angle and raised corners to maximize ground clearance. The bumper is made from 3/16″ cold rolled steel that is robotically welded to the exact specifications, then finished in a two stage textured matte black powder coat. The solid mount D-rings are welded on the inside and outside, and the welds are ground down and smoothed.
Smittybilt says each XRC bumper is developed as a complete bolt on that needs no modifications to the vehicle. Because this version includes the tire carrier, the spare tire load moves from the tailgate to the frame-mounted bumper.

Carrier and hitch use
A rear bumper with a tire carrier moves the spare’s weight to the frame, which reduces the load on the tailgate and its hinges. The carrier is also a moving part, so its hinge, latch and bearings need regular attention. Keep the spare tightly mounted so it does not swing or rattle on rough roads.
The receiver hitch makes towing and carrying accessories easier, but load limits apply to the hitch and the bumper together. Keep loads centered and secured, and avoid hanging heavy items off the hitch unless they are rated for it. Check the hitch pin and clip before each trip.
A rear bumper extends past the body, so it can change departure clearance. Look at the lowest points behind the axle and watch for contact when backing down steep drops.

Vehicle fitment
It fits the 2007 to 2016 JK Wrangler, Rubicon and Unlimited, in 2-door and 4-door models.
It is for the JK Wrangler and does not cover the 2018 and newer JL or the TJ and YJ models. Confirm fit for your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.
Installation notes
The bumper is a complete bolt-on that needs no modifications to the vehicle, and 1-1/4″ grade 5 mounting hardware is included. The tire carrier hinge uses pressed tapered bearings, so check that the carrier swings clear of the tailgate after mounting.
