The Omix-Ada lower tailgate weather seal, part number 12305.02, is a direct fit replacement seal for the factory tailgate on 1987–1995 Jeep Wrangler (YJ) models. Omix-Ada makes it as a direct OE replacement for the YJ tailgate opening.
A lower tailgate seal keeps water, dust and road noise from getting past the tailgate edge. Replacing a worn seal restores that sealing on an older YJ.

Keeping a YJ tailgate seal sealed
On a Wrangler YJ, the tailgate seals work with the hinges and latch to keep dust and water out, so a worn lower seal can let moisture reach the cargo area. Older rubber tends to harden and split, especially along the bottom edge. Replacing it when the rubber looks tired helps the tailgate close firmly.
Before installation, clean the channel and check the new seal against the old one for profile and length. Work along the seal evenly so it does not twist. After fitting, close the tailgate and check for even contact at every point, and adjust the latch if the gap changes.
