Overview
The Omix-Ada 17907.07 is a heater defroster hose for 1987–1995 Jeep Wrangler (YJ) models. It is an oval-shaped duct hose that runs from the heater case to the windshield defroster duct, and it replaces OE part 56001472.
It is built to meet or exceed OE standards for fit and performance. Its type is return.
Key features
- Oval-shaped duct hose
- Runs from the heater case to the windshield defroster duct
- Replaces OE 56001472
- Built to meet or exceed OE standards, per Omix-Ada
Defroster airflow and hose wear
The defroster hose carries heated air from the heater case into the windshield defroster duct. Because it runs near engine heat and moves warm, moist air, the hose can crack, soften or split with age. Any leak lets air escape into the dash area, which lowers defrost output and can allow moisture to collect on the windshield.
When replacing it, check the heater case outlet and the defroster duct opening for cracks or loose clips. Clean debris from the duct to keep airflow even. Make sure the oval hose sits without kinks so flow is not restricted, and secure both ends firmly. Test the defroster on several settings after fitting to confirm warm air reaches the glass.
- Inspect the heater case outlet for cracks
- Check clamps or clips at both ends
- Clean debris from the defroster duct
- Confirm airflow on every defrost setting
