Overview
The Omix-Ada 17116.55 is a return heater hose for the 1997–1999 Jeep Wrangler (TJ) Sahara and Sport trims and the 1999–2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ) Laredo, Limited, Special Edition and Sport trims. It is built for a 4.0L 6 cylinder engine.
A return heater hose carries coolant from the heater core back toward the engine. It is built to original specifications as a direct replacement.
Key features
- Direct OE replacement built to original specifications
- Return-position heater hose
- Built for the 4.0L 6 cylinder engine
- Covered by a limited five-year warranty
Heater hose wear and cooling
Heater hoses carry hot coolant through the heater core, and the return hose completes the loop back toward the engine. Rubber hoses soften, crack or swell with heat and age, and a weak section can leak onto the floor or drip under the vehicle. Coolant leaks often show first as a sweet smell or dampness near the firewall.
Replace a heater hose when it feels brittle, bulges or shows cracks, and consider replacing the clamps at the same time. Contain coolant before disconnecting the hose and dispose of it properly. After installation, run the engine to operating temperature and check the connections for seepage while the heater is on. Top up the cooling system as needed.
- Check hose ends for hardening
- Replace worn clamps with the hose
- Inspect the firewall area for drips
- Re-check connections after the first heat cycle
