Key features

  • Three rubber O-ring seals per kit
  • Replacement part for listed Jeep models
  • Crown catalog includes more than 8,000 Jeep part numbers
  • Brand says its quality is matched by a warranty

Before replacing O-rings

An O-ring sits in a groove and compresses against a flat mating surface, so its job depends on the groove being clean and the ring not being twisted. Rubber seals harden and flatten with heat and age, which is why they are commonly replaced whenever the adapter is removed for service. Reusing an old seal often leads to a slow leak that is hard to spot until the engine is warm.

Before fitting new seals, clean the groove and the mating face with a lint-free cloth, then inspect both for scratches or pitting that would stop the seal from sealing. Lightly coat the new O-rings with clean engine oil so they slide into place without pinching. Tighten the fasteners evenly, then start the engine and check around the adapter for seepage once it reaches operating temperature.

  • Replace the O-rings any time the adapter is removed
  • Check the seal groove for nicks before installing
  • Re-check for leaks after the first oil change
