Overview
The Warn Series 9 hydraulic industrial clockwise winch, part number 30282, is a 9000 lb hydraulic winch with wire line, offered in the clockwise version.
It uses a hardened steel two-stage planetary gear train, an automatic disc brake and a positive locking clutch that keeps the winch from jumping out of gear. Light wreckers, carriers and trailers are the listed applications.
Key features
- Up to 9,000 lb pulling capacity
- Two-stage planetary gear train for faster line speeds
- Heavy-duty automatic disc brake
- Positive locking clutch
- Motor options of 5.0 cu in and 3.0 cu in
Planning the rotation and rope path
Winch rotation is a layout decision, so settle it before the mount is built. Check which direction the drum turns when the hydraulic supply is connected, and make sure the rope exits the drum toward the point of pull without rubbing the mount or bumper. Clearances change with the hitch, carrier deck and any guard you fit.
Wire line benefits from even spooling. Keep light tension on the rope during the first layer, then guide it across the drum so the coils stack neatly. Inspect the line regularly for flattened or kinked sections and replace it when strands break, since a damaged line can fail suddenly under load.
- Confirm drum rotation with the hydraulic supply connected
- Keep a clear rope path from drum to pull point
- Use a sheave or guide where the line bends sharply

Clockwise appears only in the title, so confirm the rotation you need with Warn before installing.
Installation notes
Hydraulic power is needed to run it, so verify the power source is compatible before mounting. Keep hands away from the wire rope under load.
