Description

Overview

The Tuff Country 2 inch lift leaf spring (part number T/C28280) is a single front leaf spring for Ford F-250 and F-350 trucks. It covers the 1980–1996 Ford F-250, the 1997 Ford F-250 HD and the 1980–1997 Ford F-350, with a lift height range of 0 to 4.99 inches.

The spring is tapered, snub rolled, Teflon padded and pre-set for durability and ride quality. Polyurethane bushings come with each spring.

Key features

  • 2 inch lift leaf spring
  • Single front spring
  • Tapered design
  • Snub rolled
  • Teflon padded
  • Pre-set
  • Polyurethane bushings included

Front axle and spring setup

A leaf spring carries the front axle’s weight and controls its position, so a lifted front end depends on the spring holding its arch. Tapered leaves and a snub roll help the spring seat and reduce stress at the ends of the leaves. Pre-set springs are already fatigued to a set arch, which helps the front end settle sooner after installation.

When fitting a front spring, check the shackles, hangers and U-bolts for wear before bolting in the new part. Front shocks and sway bar links may need adjusting for the new height. Once the truck is back on the ground, get a front alignment and recheck the torque on all hardware after the first few drives.

  • Check shackles and hangers for wear
  • Inspect front shocks at the new height
  • Schedule an alignment after installation

Questions & Answers

Does this spring fit a 1985 Ford F-250?

Yes. It fits the 1980–1996 Ford F-250 in several trims, so a 1985 model falls within those years. Confirm your trim before ordering, since fit is broken out by trim package.

Is the spring sold in pairs or singles?

It is a single front spring, so a second spring is needed for the other side of the front axle. The kit comes with one spring and polyurethane bushings.

Does the spring include bushings?

Yes. Each spring ships with polyurethane bushings, so the bushings come with the single front spring. Check the bushing condition during installation.

How often should front leaf springs be inspected?

Check them during regular front-end service and after any heavy loads or off-road trips. Look for sagging, cracked leaves, broken clips and worn bushings. Replace a spring that has lost its arch or shows cracks.
