Overview
The Tuff Country 79015 is a set of axle lift blocks for raising the rear end of many trucks and SUVs. It is a universal fit part, so confirm the blocks suit your rear axle and springs before installing them.
Driveline and alignment after lifting
Lift blocks move the axle up and back, which changes the pinion angle and the operating angle of the driveshaft. Steep angles can cause vibration, faster u-joint wear and noise under load, so the driveline should be checked after installation. Brake lines and the parking brake cable may also need checking for stretch once the axle is repositioned.
Because the rear end sits higher, the vehicle’s alignment and steering geometry may change slightly, so a wheel alignment is worthwhile after installation. Check the shocks and bump stops for clearance over the full range of travel. Recheck the blocks’ mounting hardware at the first service and after any hard off-road use to confirm nothing has loosened.
- Check driveshaft angles and u-joints
- Inspect brake lines for stretch
- Recheck fasteners after the first drives
- Confirm alignment after installation
