Overview
The Rugged Ridge 18265.01 is a pair of heavy-duty leaf spring shackles for the front or rear axles of Jeep CJ5 and CJ6 models. Each shackle links a leaf spring to the frame, and this pair is sold as a replacement set.
The pair provides 1 inch of lift and installs as a direct fit with a bolt-on application. Bushings are not included, and the shackles are non-greaseable.
Key features
- Heavy-duty shackles sold as a pair
- Direct fit with bolt-on application
- Provides 1 inch of lift
- Usable at front or rear leaf spring locations
Choosing shackles for a CJ build
Shackles set the length of the leaf spring at the rear or front end, so the choice of pair affects how the body sits and how the axle travels. On an older CJ the original shackles often show wear at the pin and the bushing, and replacing them restores the spring’s movement. Many owners replace the bushings, pins and hardware alongside the shackles so the whole pivot works together.
Because a pair without bushings needs bushings sourced separately, confirm the eye diameter and bushing type before buying. Check the spring pins and frame hangers for elongated holes and cracks during the swap. After installation, look at the driveline angles and the brake hose length, and confirm the tires clear the body at full suspension compression.
