Description

Overview

The Rubicon Express RE7142FP is a standard coil lift kit for the Jeep Wrangler JK, supplied with front and rear Fox Performance shocks. Rubicon Express built its FOX-shock kit numbers for buyers who want that shock brand on a complete Rubicon Express system, and this one uses the standard coil spring setup rather than the super-flex arms.

The kit has a lift height range of 3 to 4.99 inches, with replacement coil springs at both ends. Cam bolts let you set caster and pinion angle after installation, and the front track bar, rear track bar bracket and sway bar end links are upgraded in the same kit.

The FOX Performance Series shocks are covered by the FOX warranty and are not eligible for the Rubicon Express Advantage Warranty. Keep that difference in mind when you register the kit.

Key features

  • Front and rear Fox Performance shocks
  • Front and rear replacement coil springs
  • Cam bolts for caster and pinion adjustment
  • Front adjustable track bar and rear track bar bracket
  • Extended sway bar end links
  • Front and rear bump stops
  • Listed lift height range of 3 to 4.99 inches

Choosing a lift height

A coil spring lift raises the body by changing the spring and shock setup at each corner, so the rest of the drivetrain and steering see new angles. Replacing the shocks at the same time keeps damping matched to the new ride height. When choosing how far to lift, consider the tires you plan to run, the bumpers and winch you carry, and how much daily road use the vehicle gets, since larger tires and heavy gear change the load on the springs.

After installation, the track bar, sway bar end links and bump stops take up the loads the lift changes. Recheck the bolts on these parts after the first few trail runs, and look for worn bushings or cracked bump stops at each service. Caster and pinion angles should be checked with an alignment once the cam bolts are set.

Questions & Answers

Does the RE7142FP fit a Jeep Wrangler JK?

Yes. It is a direct fit for the 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler (JK). Confirm the year and model before ordering, and check whether a 2012 or newer truck needs an exhaust modification or front drive shaft.

What lift height does this kit give?

The listed lift height range is 3 to 4.99 inches. It uses replacement coil springs at both the front and rear, along with cam bolts for caster and pinion adjustment.

Are the shocks covered by the same warranty as the kit?

The Fox Performance Series shocks are covered by the FOX warranty, and they do not qualify for the Rubicon Express Advantage Warranty.

How often should the shock absorbers be inspected on a coil lift?

Inspect them at every service and whenever the vehicle is driven hard off road. Look for oil on the body, leaks at the seals, or a bouncing ride after bumps. Worn shocks reduce control on a lifted vehicle, so they are often replaced along with the springs.
