Overview
Fox Racing Shox makes part 985-26-051, a Factory Series reservoir shock with CD adjuster, built as a gas charged direct replacement shock for an existing bolt-on position.
Each application is built for suspension travel and on and off road performance. Universal Fit is the only fitment wording, and no specific vehicle years or models are named, so match it to your vehicle before buying.
Key features
- Factory Series build from Fox
- Reservoir body design
- CD adjuster named in the title
- Gas charged construction
Setting up a Factory reservoir shock
A gas charged reservoir shock uses pressurized gas to limit foaming in the oil, which helps the damper keep working steadily when it runs hot. The separate reservoir adds room for the oil and gas to move. Because the gas is pressurized, the shock should be handled with care during removal and never heated or opened.
Setup starts with the mounting points. Measure the shock’s eye-to-eye length in the collapsed and extended positions and compare that with the original. Check the reservoir hose for clearance at full stroke, and tighten the clamps after the first few trail runs. A CD adjuster should be set at the same position on both sides to keep the vehicle balanced.
- Measure eye-to-eye length before fitting
- Keep the hose away from the tire
- Recheck clamps after the first trail runs

Vehicle fitment
No make, model or year is tied to this part. Shocks have to match the mounting points of the original unit, so measure those before choosing it.
Compare this part number with other 985-26 numbers rather than assuming they match. Confirm your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.
