Description

Overview

The Fox 985-26-013 is a front smooth body reservoir shock with a CD adjuster, for the 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler (JK). It is a bolt-on direct replacement with an aluminum body, a gas charged design and a 12.1 inch stroke, for a 6.5 to 8 inch lift.

The CD adjuster changes compression damping without replacing the shock. The body is designed to maximize suspension travel on and off road. Compare the position, lift range and length figures with your Jeep before ordering.

Key features

  • Smooth body reservoir design
  • CD adjuster for compression damping
  • Aluminum body
  • Gas charged shock
  • Direct fit bolt-on replacement
  • Front position, for a 6.5 to 8 inch lift
  • 12.1 inch stroke with 29.80 inch extended length

Front damping and lift

A front shock on a lifted Wrangler works against the extra weight of larger tires and the changed angles of the control arms. A CD adjuster lets you firm or soften compression damping without swapping the shock, which helps when the Jeep is loaded for a trip or driven mostly on pavement. Make changes in small steps and check the ride on a familiar road after each adjustment.

When the suspension is lifted, the front shock may reach its limit earlier, so inspect the bump stops and brake lines for contact at full compression. Keep the reservoir hose and adjuster clean, and watch for oil residue around the body, which can signal a seal problem. Replacing a worn bushing at the same time helps the shock hold its position.

  • Check brake line length after a lift
  • Inspect bump stops at full compression
  • Keep the adjuster clean and dry
