Key features
- Red finish
- Standard straight eye design
- Polyurethane bushings for shock eyes
- Kit supplies 2 bushings
Bushing wear and replacement
The bushing inside a shock eye cushions the joint between the shock and its mount, so it absorbs both load and small rotational motion. Over time the polyurethane can harden, crack or flatten, which lets the eye knock and loosen the bolt. A replacement bushing restores that cushioning, provided the bore and length match the eye it goes into.
When fitting new bushings, clean the eye bore and the bolt so there is no grit to scratch the new surface. Lubricate lightly if the instructions call for it, and tighten the bolt to the point where the shock still swings freely. Inspect the other end of the shock at the same service so both mounts wear evenly.
- Clean the eye bore before fitting
- Check the bolt for wear or rust
- Inspect the other shock end at the same time
