Tie rod wear and alignment
Tie rods link the steering rack or steering box to the wheel hubs, so any play in them shows up as wandering, vibration or uneven tire wear. Replacing them with a stronger part changes how loads travel through the steering, so the rest of the front end matters too. Ball joints, rack bushings and wheel bearings should be checked at the same time, since worn parts in those areas can make a new tie rod feel loose.
