Trail use and inspection
Tie rods on a side-by-side see sharp impacts from rocks, stumps and ruts. Because the barrel-style rods remove the factory break points, the rods are built to take that load rather than let the joints fold. Inspect the rod ends and clevis hardware after each rough outing.
Radius rods control steering geometry and should move without binding through full lock. Look for bent tubes, cracked welds or loose clevis nuts, and retighten hardware that has backed off. Keep the matte black finish clean, since mud can hide small chips.
If you change tires or lift the vehicle, tie rod geometry can shift. Recheck steering alignment and centering after those changes, and keep spare hardware on hand for the trail.
