Overview
The Warrior tailgate cover in aluminum diamond plate, part number 3950, is a lower and center cover for the 2007–2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser. The lower cover replaces the factory plastic covering on the lower tailgate, under the spare tire and around the license plate.
The center cover is for owners who have removed a tailgate-mounted spare tire. It fills the large open space left behind when that spare tire mount comes off. Warrior also offers the tailgate covers in aluminum black diamond plate and smooth black 12 gauge steel, and the black diamond plate version, part number W/I3950PC, is the one pictured.

Spare tire and tailgate space
The lower tailgate area is where road dirt, spray and small rocks collect, and the plastic covering there can show wear sooner than the rest of the gate. A metal cover in this spot takes that exposure better and gives the rear a more finished look. Because the cover sits low on the tailgate, it also sees the most contact from tire tread and tow hitches.
The center section matters when the spare has been moved off the tailgate, since the open area can collect debris. Before fitting, clean the mounting area and check the tailgate for any loose trim. Keep the diamond plate pattern clear of mud so the surface is easier to inspect after rough trails.
