Overview
The Smittybilt XRC 9.5K GEN2 97495 is a waterproof winch with a rated single-line pull of 9,500 lb (4,309 kg). It has a 6.6 hp series-wound motor, a 3-stage planetary gear train with a 161.28:1 ratio, and an IP67 waterproof rating.
The XRC line has heavy-duty features for better performance and durability. The series runs from 9,500 lb to 17,500 lb capacities. This 9,500 lb model uses a wire rope cable, a four-way roller fairlead and an automatic in-drum brake. It has a matte black coating with stainless steel hardware and oversized aluminum crossbars.
The XRC Gen2 is a complete recovery winch built for getting out of difficult spots. Synthetic rope is available on the XRC Comp Series instead.

Winch plate and rope care
A winch is only as good as the plate it bolts to, so check the plate’s rating and bolt pattern against the winch before you start the install. The plate should sit square to the bumper with no gaps at the bolt holes. Match the mounting hardware to the plate and tighten it fully before loading the winch.
Wire rope needs regular inspection. Look for kinks, broken strands and flattened sections, and keep the rope wound evenly on the drum. Keep the fairlead clean and lubricated so the rope does not drag, and avoid spooling out the full length under load.

Smittybilt labels the winch universal fit. A winch is mounted to a plate on a specific bumper, so the fit depends on the mount and bolt pattern rather than on a universal label.
Check that your winch plate matches the 10.0 x 4.5 in bolt pattern and the winch’s dimensions before ordering.

Installation notes
The winch needs a winch plate, which is sold separately, and the 10.0 x 4.5 in bolt pattern has to match. The solenoid box can be mounted in three positions, and the remote switch has a 12 ft (3.7 m) lead.
Keep hands and any loops of cable clear of the wire rope and fairlead while the winch is under load.
What’s included
Each XRC winch includes a heavy duty winch controller, a four-way roller fairlead, a forged steel tow hook and a redesigned solenoid box. The warranty is lifetime mechanical and 3-year electrical. Not included: the winch plate.
