Overview
The Smittybilt G.E.A.R. Tailgate Cover, part number 5662224 in tan, has two large storage pouches. It is made from 600 denier polyester with a PVC liner and is designed to match the rest of the G.E.A.R. line.
The pouches are 100 percent interchangeable with PAL and MOLLE pouches, so compatible pouches from other systems can be used with the cover.
Key features
- Two large storage pouches included
- 600 denier polyester with PVC liner
- Tan color
- Pouches are 100 percent interchangeable with PAL and MOLLE pouches
Pouch swaps and gear layout
Tan fabric tends to show dust and sun wear sooner than darker colors, so a periodic wipe-down helps keep the cover looking even. Use a soft brush for dry grit, then a damp cloth with mild soap. Avoid harsh solvents, which can dull a PVC liner and leave residue on the pouch zippers.
When swapping pouches between systems, match the attachment type before you move gear. Some pouches use different strap widths or buckles, and forcing a mismatch can stress the stitching. Lay out the pouches before mounting them so the heaviest items sit lowest and the cover stays balanced against the tailgate.
Store the cover folded loosely in a dry place, out of direct sun for long periods. Heat and UV exposure gradually stiffen fabric and can crack the liner, so rotating it into shade between trips extends its service life.
- Wipe off dust before it bakes on
- Match strap widths before swapping pouches
