Routing and wire protection
Harness routing matters on a rear-lit vehicle because the wiring runs past the tailgate hinge and along the frame, where it can rub or be pinched. Secure the loom with the existing clips and leave a small service loop near the light so the connector is not under tension when the tailgate or hatch moves.
LED lamps draw less current than old bulbs, but they still rely on a sound ground and clean connections. If the lights flicker or a function dims after installation, check the ground point and connector pins first. Keep loom tape and heat-shrink on hand, and when the harness is pulled out for service, inspect the jacket for abrasion.
