Overview
The Poison Spyder Brawler Rockers in bare aluminum (part number 18-08-200-ALUM) are two-piece rocker armor for the four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK, 2007 to 2018. They use the same design as Poison Spyder’s steel Brawler Rockers, but the plate is 3/16 inch aluminum instead of 3/16 inch steel. The aluminum version is much lighter than the steel one, and it gives up some of the rocker armor protection to get that weight saving.
Aluminum rockers suit owners who want the Brawler look and entry-step function with less weight, and who accept that the plate will not withstand the same impacts as steel. On trails where rocks are hit often, the steel Brawler Rocker is the better choice. Brawler Rockers are not compatible with body lifts.
Key features
- Two-piece mini-boatside rocker armor with a high-clearance boatside
- Each piece is CNC laser cut and precision brake formed from 3/16 inch aluminum plate
- The lower rub rail sticks out about 3-1/4 inches past the body tub and can serve as an entry step
- Internal 3/16 inch gussets add strength to the boatside
- Oval lightening holes along the boatside let mud and debris be hosed out
- End caps are angled to allow up to a 40 inch tire and to match the JK Crusher Flares
- Attaches to the body mounts, so the rocker is tied to the frame
Trail use and rocker damage
Rocker armor takes the hits from rocks and stumps on the trail, and the rocker panel is the part of the body most often struck. A rocker that is bent, cracked at a weld or loose at its mounts should be repaired before the next trip, because it no longer protects the body or holds its position.
The entry-step function puts weight on the rub rail, so the joints and fasteners see repeated load. Check the cap screws and nut-serts after each outing, and retighten any that have backed off. Clear mud and debris from the lightening holes after wet trails to keep the inside of the armor from trapping moisture.
Any paint or powder coat should be applied to the finished pieces, and touched up where chips expose bare metal.
- Inspect cap screws after each outing
- Clear mud from the lightening holes
- Repair bends and cracked welds promptly

Vehicle fitment
The Brawler Rocker fits the 2007 to 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK four-door Unlimited, in several Unlimited trim packages. It is a JK part, so it does not fit the two-door Wrangler, JL or JT models.
Two-door JK and later Wrangler and Gladiator models are not in the manufacturer list. Brawler Rockers are not compatible with body lifts. Confirm your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.
Installation notes
Fitting the rockers requires cutting or drilling, and the lower piece attaches at the Jeep’s body mounts. Owners who already fitted Poison Spyder JK Body Armor can reuse its nut-serts, which saves installation time, but the body armor has to come off first. The rockers ship bare, so any paint or powder coat is applied to the finished piece.
What’s included
Upper and lower rocker pieces with the supplied stainless steel flat-head cap screws, nut-serts and clip-nuts. All fastener holes are countersunk for flat-head hardware.
Not included: paint or powder coat. The rockers ship bare.
