Driver side lamp upkeep
The left parking and turn signal lamp on a Cherokee XJ sits in a housing that sees rain, car wash spray and road salt. Water that gets past a worn gasket can fog the lens and corrode the socket. Inspect the housing edges and the seal each time the lamp is serviced.
Lens-only work is usually quick, but the surrounding parts matter. Clean the socket contacts, check the ground connection, and replace any brittle wiring insulation before reassembly. Fasteners on older plastic housings can crack if overtightened, so snug them evenly. Test the lamp with the battery disconnected during wiring work, then reconnect and check it before closing everything up.
