Description

Overview

The Firestone Ride-Rite Coil-Rite rear air helper spring kit, model 4135, is an in-coil air helper kit rated at 500 lbs per pair. It is built for coil sprung vehicles and adds leveling through coil type air bags.

It is a medium duty, air adjustable kit with polyurethane helper springs. Leveling the rear can support stability, steering and braking, reduce tire wear, and keep headlights aimed at the road.

Key features

  • In coil system for coil sprung vehicles
  • 500 lbs of load leveling capacity per pair
  • Air adjustable polyurethane helper springs
  • No drilling required
  • Manual inflation
  • Not compatible with lift kits or height sensors
  • Benefits listed include stability, braking, steering and tire wear

Before mounting in-coil bags

In-coil air helpers sit inside the coil spring, so the free space around the spring is the first thing to measure. Look for rubbing against the spring pocket, the shock body or nearby brake lines once the bag is in. The bag should sit centered and not press on the spring coil wall at full compression.

Polyurethane helper springs hold their shape well, but they still wear. Inspect the bags for cuts, bulges and cracks each time you check the fittings, and make sure the inflation valve seals properly. Manual inflation means you set the pressure by hand, so keep a gauge handy whenever you adjust for a load.

  • Measure coil clearance before mounting
  • Check the bag for rubbing after the first drive
  • Keep a gauge with you when adjusting pressure
  • Inspect valves and fittings for leaks

Questions & Answers

Is the Coil-Rite 4135 compatible with lift kits?

No. The kit is not lift kit compatible, and the height sensor is also not compatible with it. Plan your suspension setup around those limits before choosing this kit.

What load rating does the 4135 have?

It is rated for 500 lbs per pair. It is a medium duty, air adjustable kit built for coil sprung vehicles.

Does the 4135 require drilling?

No. It is an in coil design that needs no drilling. Check that the coil spring has room for the bag before mounting it.

Can I add a compressor or height sensor to the 4135?

A compressor and gauges are sold separately, so you can add them. The height sensor is not compatible with this kit, so do not plan around one.

What routine checks does an in-coil air helper need?

Look over the bag for cuts, bulges and rubbing against the coil, and check valves and fittings for air leaks. Recheck the pressure whenever the load changes, since manual inflation does not adjust on its own.

Can I run a lift kit with this air helper?

No. The kit is not lift compatible, so plan a standard-height setup around it. Keep the coil clearance and fittings in mind if you change ride height in any other way.
