Before you install
Fender flares are held on by screws and nuts that work loose over time, especially on a vehicle that sees rough trails and frequent washing. Before mounting, clean the threads and look over the nuts for rust or a worn lock feature. Fasteners that spin freely or show corrosion should be replaced rather than reused, since a loose flare can rub the tire or vibrate free.
Fit the flare loosely first, check that it lines up with the body and wheel opening, then tighten the fasteners evenly. Re-check them after the first few drives and again after washing or off-road use. Aftermarket flares can have different gaps from the factory pattern, so a test fit before final tightening saves time.
