Replacement air sleeves
A replacement air sleeve is a flexible bag that carries load between the frame and axle. Over time the rubber can age, crack or pick up abrasion at contact points, which can cause slow leaks and an uneven rear. Check the sleeve surface, the bead seals and the fittings during routine service, especially where the sleeve rubs against brackets or the jounce area.
An internal jounce bumper gives the sleeve a stop when the suspension compresses, which helps limit impact at the bottom of travel. Because the bumper is inside the sleeve, damage is easier to miss, so inspect the outer surface for bulges and cracks. Keep the sleeves clean, and avoid over-inflating them when the vehicle is lightly loaded.
