Projector headlight basics
Projector headlights focus light through a lens and shade, which gives a sharper cutoff than a reflector housing. Because the housing seals the optics, moisture that enters through a worn gasket can fog the lens or damage the electronics. Before installing, inspect the seal, the mounting tabs and the wiring plug, and make sure nothing will rub against the lens cover.
CCFL halo rings give a glow around the projector lens and are often used as an accent light. The tube is sealed inside the housing, so a fault usually means replacing the headlight rather than the tube alone. Keep the lens clean with a soft cloth, and avoid abrasive cleaners that can cloud the plastic over time.
- Inspect the housing gasket before installing
- Check the wiring plug for corrosion
- Keep the lens clean and dry
- Confirm the beam aim after fitting
