Overview
The Omix-Ada OAI17408.10 rocker arm pivots are for 2.5L 4-cylinder, 4.0L and 4.2L 6-cylinder and 304-360 V8 engines. Pivots support the rocker arms that open and close the valves.
The fitment covers a long run of Jeep models, from the 1972 Commando, CJ and Wagoneer SJ through the 2004–2006 Wrangler LJ, including Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Comanche vehicles.
Key features
- Rocker arm pivots for 2.5L, 4.0L, 4.2L and 304-360 V8 engines
- Built to original specifications by Omix-Ada
- Covers Jeep models from 1972 to 2006
- Limited 5-year manufacturer warranty
Spotting valve train wear
Rocker arm pivots carry the load of the rocker arms every time a valve opens, so wear at the pivot shows up as valve noise, uneven valve timing or a rocker that moves sideways on its stud. Worn pivots can also enlarge the rocker bore, which is why inspecting the arms and studs at the same time is a good habit.
Clean, lightly oiled pivots move freely and hold their position. Keep the valve cover clear of debris during assembly, and recheck the valve lash after the first few warm-up cycles, since settling can change how the rockers sit.
- Ticking from the valve cover area
- Rocker arms that rock side to side
- Uneven valve lash after assembly
- Worn studs or rocker bores

Installation notes
Pivot fit depends on the stud or shaft and the rocker arm design on your engine, so confirm those details before installing. Valve train work needs clean parts and careful assembly to the engine rebuild requirements.
What’s included
Rocker arm pivots only. Check the quantity against your rocker arm count before starting work.
Not included: rocker arms, studs, push rods and other valve train parts.
