Overview
The Omix-Ada 18058.03 is a long passenger side tie rod end for 1987–1990 Jeep Wrangler (YJ) models. It connects steering knuckle to steering knuckle with a 7/8 thread diameter, and it is a direct fit.
Key features
- Passenger side, right position
- Long design
- 7/8 thread diameter
- Steering knuckle to steering knuckle connection
- Direct fit listing for the 1987–1990 YJ
Matching the thread
Thread diameter decides whether a long tie rod end will seat on the tie rod it connects to, so compare the 7/8 thread on the old part with the new one before ordering. A mismatch often shows up as a stud that will not thread or a joint that binds. Long tie rod ends on YJ steering are commonly replaced as a pair with the other side.
YJ steering geometry is sensitive, so after any tie rod end change, have the front alignment checked. Inspect the boot, the nut and the cotter pin on the other side at the same time. Worn ends often leave play that makes the steering feel loose on the highway, and tires can wear unevenly as toe drifts.
- Measure the old thread before ordering
- Replace ends in pairs when both show wear
- Check the nut and cotter pin
