Choosing a secure mounting spot
A fire extinguisher in a roll cage or cab should be reachable without twisting or releasing belts, and the spot should keep it out of the path of passengers during a sudden stop. Mount the clamps to solid structure, such as a roll bar hoop or a welded tab, rather than thin trim. Orientation matters too: the valve and handle should face outward so the extinguisher can be pulled out quickly.
Vibration is the main reason mounts loosen. Tighten each fastener in turn and recheck them after the first few trail runs, then at regular intervals. Keep the mounting area free of fuel lines and wiring, and avoid placing the extinguisher where direct sun or engine heat can reach it for long periods.
