Overview
The Crown Automotive 528533FRK is a CV joint repair kit for the front or rear drive shaft of the 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK.
The front kit is set up for the transfer case end of the shaft, and the rear kit fits either side. It fits both 2-door and Unlimited four-door models.

Before you rebuild a CV joint
A CV joint allows a drive shaft to transmit steady rotation through an angle, which is why it is used at the ends of front and rear shafts on off-road Jeeps. A torn boot is the usual first sign of trouble: grease leaks out, dirt gets in, and the joint begins to click or bind when turning. Inspect both ends of the shaft for play, torn boots and grease loss before deciding which end needs the kit.
Rebuilding a joint usually means replacing the boot, clamps and grease together, so the new parts are sealed as a set. Clean the shaft thoroughly and check the splines and yoke for wear before reassembly. Because the CV assembly and end caps are supplied together, replace any worn parts in the set rather than reusing old pieces that have already lost their seal.
- Inspect the boot for cracks before removing the clamps
- Pack the joint with the grease supplied with the kit
- Re-check clamp tightness after the first drives
