Using the cover on the trail
A sport bar cover is used most often on trips where gear needs to be close at hand, so placement and balance matter. Keep the heaviest items in the center section and lighter pouches toward the ends. This reduces sway on rough roads and keeps the cover from sagging when it is loaded.
Canvas covers wear gradually from sun and friction, so check the fabric where it crosses the bar and where the zippers close. Dust and sand can work into the weave and abrade the finish, so shake out the cover between trips. Replace any closure that no longer holds, since a loose flap can catch brush and snag on branches.
