Overview
The Omix-ADA 16749.04 is a front brake caliper anti-rattle clip that fits the Cherokee XJ, Grand Cherokee ZJ, CJ5, CJ7, Scrambler and Wrangler YJ, TJ and LJ.
The anti-rattle clip holds the brake caliper snugly in its mount so it does not chatter over bumps. It is a direct OE replacement built to original specifications, for the front position.
One part number covers a wide spread of Jeeps, from the early 1980s CJ models to the 2006 Wrangler.
Anti-rattle clips are small spring pieces that keep a caliper from moving in its mount. This part fits a wide range of Jeeps, from early 1980s CJ models through three Wrangler generations. Confirm the pack quantity and fit for your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering, since years vary by model.
Key features
- Brake caliper anti-rattle clip
- Front position
- Direct OE replacement, per Omix-ADA
- Built to the original specifications
- Limited five year warranty from the manufacturer
Why clips matter
Caliper anti-rattle clips sit between the caliper and its bracket and keep the caliper from knocking as the vehicle moves. Without enough spring tension, the caliper can chatter over bumps, and the pads can wear unevenly. The clip is small, but it helps keep the caliper aligned with the rotor.
Clips can weaken with heat, corrosion and age, so check them whenever the pads are changed. A clip that is bent, rusted or has lost its tension should be replaced. Because brake work affects stopping performance, have a qualified technician install the clip and test the brakes before regular driving. Keep the caliper slide pins and bushings in view while the clip is out.
- Check clips at every pad change
- Look for bent, rusted or weakened clips
- Inspect the caliper slide pins and bushings at the same time
