Thread care and torx fit
Hardtop bolts thread into body and frame points that see a lot of movement, so clean threads matter as much as the fastener itself. Wipe the threads and the mounting hole with a clean rag before installing, and remove any rust or old sealant. Starting the bolt by hand helps prevent cross-threading, which can damage the hole and leave the hardtop loose.
Torx heads strip easily when the bit is worn or undersized, so use a bit that seats fully before applying force. Keep the bolts in a labeled tray when the top is off, since mixing fasteners can cause uneven fit. Inspect each bolt for stretched shafts, rust or damaged heads, and replace any bolt that shows wear before reinstalling the top.
