Caring for a soft top
A soft top keeps weather out and needs regular attention to stay that way. Rinse dirt off the fabric and windows, and clean with a soft brush and mild soap, avoiding abrasive pads that scratch clear vinyl. Dry the top thoroughly before folding or storing it so trapped moisture does not cause mildew along the seams.
The windshield header and rear J-clips are the points where stress builds up. Check the header for loose spots after rough trail sessions, and keep the clips free of grit so they seat cleanly. Replacing worn clips and loose stitching early keeps the top from pulling at its mounts. Before each season, look over the zippers and seams for splits, since small repairs are easier than full replacements.
